Who Akashi White Oak Blended Japanese Whisky is produced by Eigashima Shuzo (also known as the White Oak Distillery), a historic family-run distillery. Founded in 1888 primarily as a sake and shochu producer, Eigashima was the first company in Japan to obtain a whisky-making license in 1919—four years before the famous Yamazaki Distillery. The company is currently run by the ninth generation of the Hiraishi family, maintaining centuries-old traditions alongside modern whisky-making. |

What Akashi White Oak Blended is a light, easy-drinking whisky that is often described as delicate and unfussy, making it a perfect introduction to the Japanese style. The aroma is very bright and floral. You’ll get immediate notes of honey, yellow apples, and fresh hay. There is also a distinct cereal-forward scent, like toasted grains or warm malted milk. The texture is thin and clean. The primary flavors are vanilla, ginger, and a light buttery sweetness. Because it is made by a sake master, some people pick up a faint rice-like creaminess or "koji" sweetness. There is a very subtle touch of peat smoke, but it’s more of an earthy background note than a smoky one. The finish is relatively short and crisp, leaving a lingering taste of oatmeal, honey, and a dash of white pepper spice. |

Why This is the only whisky in the world produced by a Toji (a grand-master sake maker). The distillery staff spends half the year making traditional sake and the other half making whisky. They apply the same obsessive focus on water purity and clean fermentation to this spirit, which is why it has that signature silky, sake-like elegance. |
