Icon 1 Who
Aqara Agave de los Andes Agreste is produced by Marco Suarez Lara and his sister, Yanett Suarez, who serves as the brand's master distiller. Founder Marco Suarez Lara, a native of Caraz, was inspired by Mexican traditions to revitalize the use of Peru's "sleeping" wild agaves.

Icon 3 What
Aqara Agave de los Andes Agreste is frequently described as tasting more like a fruit-forward eau de vie (fruit brandy) than a traditional Mexican agave spirit. The nose is highly aromatic, featuring an intense bouquet of fresh-cut mango, macerated cherry, and peach pits. This is often complemented by subtle earthy undertones and the scent of moist soil. On the palate, it delivers a robust "burst" of Bronx grapes, followed by deeper fruit flavors of plum and prune. Unlike tequila or mezcal, it has a distinct bittersweet quality with herbal essences and a hint of salinity.

Why
The agaves used are not farmed in neat rows but are wild-harvested from the rugged mountain slopes. It is believed these agaves were brought to the region by indigenous peoples and hybridized locally long before the Spanish conquest, making them distinct subspecies unique to this specific Andean pocket.
