Who Averna Amaro carries over 150 years of Sicilian tradition in every sip. First crafted by the Averna family in Caltanissetta, Sicily in 1868, this iconic amaro remains true to its heritage even under the Campari Group umbrella. Rich, complex, and unmistakably Sicilian, Averna delivers the warmth and depth that made it a digestif staple across generations. Whether enjoyed neat after dinner or mixed into a classic cocktail, it's a taste of Sicily's storied past. |

What Averna Amaro is a quintessential "gateway" amaro—rich, velvety, and approachable. It is significantly sweeter and less medicinal than a Fernet, with a profile defined by Sicilian citrus and herbal warmth. The palate starts with a thick, syrupy sweetness reminiscent of cola, burnt sugar, and caramel. This evolves into a complex heart of bitter orange, lemon, and dried fruit (like figs or raisins). You’ll notice earthy, spicy undertones of licorice, vanilla, myrtle, and juniper. The finish has a smooth, gentle bitterness that lingers without being harsh. Unlike some amari that have a "cold" menthol finish, Averna is warm and woodsy. |

Why Averna Amaro is best experienced the Sicilian way. Pour it over plenty of ice in a wide-mouthed glass, add a slice of lemon and a sprig of fresh rosemary or sage, then squeeze the herbs to unlock their aromatic magic. Or go bold and build a Black Manhattan, where Averna replaces sweet vermouth to deliver a darker, more chocolatey depth that transforms the classic whiskey cocktail. Either way, you're tasting over 150 years of Sicilian craftsmanship. |
