What Braulio Amaro Alpino has a complex, assertive, and deeply herbal flavor profile that is often described as "winter in a bottle". As a classic Alpine-style amaro, it is characterized by cooling menthol, piney resin, and earthy bitterness. You will immediately notice a powerful aroma of pine needles, juniper oil, and menthol-tinged mint. There are also undercurrents of earthy roots, orange peel, and forest-like woodiness from its two-year aging in Slavonian oak barrels. he entry is surprisingly sweet and viscous, featuring notes of honey, chamomile, and even hints of cola or root beer. This sweetness is quickly overtaken by a bold, medicinal bitterness from gentian root and wormwood. |

Why It was created in 1875 by Dr. Francesco Peloni, a pharmacist who spent years researching the medicinal properties of alpine plants. The blend contains 13 botanicals, but only four people in the world know the full recipe. To keep it secret, local herb suppliers are required to sign non-disclosure agreements. Braulio Amaro Alpino is aged for up to two years in a maze of underground tunnels carved directly into the Alps beneath the town of Bormio. These tunnels were originally used to age cheese before they became Braulio's cellars. |
