What Because this is a 34-year-old single grain whisky from a "ghost" distillery, it doesn't taste like your typical smoky or malty Scotch. Instead, it has the elegant, dessert-like profile that only comes from decades of aging in oak. It is incredibly sweet and bright. You’ll smell vanilla bean, butterscotch, and a distinct note of toasted coconut. There is a deep, honeyed fruitiness, like poached pears or tinned apricots, and it has a silky texture. The primary flavors are rich caramel, crème brûlée, and white chocolate. Because it’s a grain whisky, you get a beautiful sweetness that tastes like honey-glazed corn or artisanal granola. |

Why The North of Scotland distillery (also known as Strathmore) only existed for 23 years (1957–1980). It was a short-lived experiment by a man named George Christie who wanted to challenge the big whisky monopolies. Most of the liquid was used for blends and disappeared decades ago. To find a single cask that was "forgotten" and allowed to age for 34 years is a statistical miracle in the whisky world. |
