Who Azar Spirits makes the Flor de Azar Citrus Liqueur, which is crafted at the Flor de Luna Distillery. The brand was created by two longtime friends (one Mexican, one American) who partnered with Hillhamn Salome, the highly acclaimed Maestra Destiladora behind popular brands like Condesa Gin and Xila. It is proudly distilled, bottled, and labeled entirely by hand by a women-owned and women-operated team. |

What Flor de Azar Citrus Liqueur tastes like bright, zesty orange oils, sweet mandarin fruit, and honeyed agave, balanced by an earthy, floral, and subtly peppery finish. Because it is bottled at a sturdy 80 proof (40% ABV) and uses a grain-alcohol base rather than cheap sugarcane, it lacks the syrupy, artificial sweetness common in mass-market triple secs. It bursts out of the glass with a highly fragrant bouquet of fresh orange blossom (azar), warm lavender, and citrus zest. Beneath the flowers, you will catch a spicy punch of cracked black pepper and green cardamom. It features a smooth, medium-bodied texture sweetened naturally by agave syrup. The initial sip delivers an explosion of juicy citrus, tasting of bitter orange peel, sweet mandarin, and tart lime. Mid-sip, the unique barley-corn-rye base reveals a rich, slightly bready and comforting undertone. The exit is crisp, dry, and elegantly long. |
