Who Forthave Spirits was founded by friends, artist Aaron Sing Fox and writer/producer Daniel de la Nuez, who began making amari in their home kitchens in 2012 and officially opened their distillery in 2016. The amaro is rooted in the legend of Richard Forthave, a 15th-century botanist credited with creating a plague-combatting elixir, which evolved into the story of the "Four Thieves Vinegar" used in plague-stricken Marseille. The founders follow a "do-it-yourself" approach, focusing on natural, small-batch production and a deep respect for historical recipes and herbal traditions. |

What Forthave Marseille Amaro is an intensely aromatic, and herbaceous amaro. Highly fragrant and herbal, it is dominated by notes of eucalyptus, mint, and warm spices like cinnamon and clove. It offers a potent, sharp bitterness that is balanced by a subtle sweetness. Key flavors include strong notes of menthol, root beer spice, and an earthy complexity from various barks and roots. The finish is long, sharp, and cooling, with a pronounced minty sensation that cleanses the palate effectively. Medium-bodied, with no artificial coloring; its natural hue comes from the botanicals themselves. |

Why A standout cocktail for Forthave Marseille Amaro is the Marseille Spritz, which highlights the amaro's intense eucalyptus and mint notes without letting them become too medicinal. Because Forthave is significantly drier and more aromatic than traditional Italian brands, it excels in drinks that prioritize effervescence and citrus. The vibe is like a sophisticated, herbal "garden" version of a standard spritz. The eucalyptus notes make it feel incredibly cooling on a warm day. |
