What Il Gusto di Amalfi Mandarino is often described as "sunshine in a bottle" because it tastes like the pure, concentrated essence of fresh citrus rather than a syrupy liqueur. It has an incredibly vibrant and floral aroma, and unlike lemon-based limoncello, it smells like perfumed orange zest, honeysuckle, and fresh mountain air. On the tongue, it is bright and refreshingly tart. The flavor is dominated by sweet-tart mandarin, with a complex herbal edge that comes from the essential oils in the hand-peeled rinds. It leaves a long, clean, and slightly bitter finish that mimics the sensation of biting into a fresh piece of fruit. |

Why Il Gusto di Amalfi uses a very specific, rare variety of mandarin called the Marzatico. It ripens much later than other varieties (around March, hence the name "Marzatico"). This long ripening period allows the fruit to develop an incredibly complex, floral, and spicy aromatic profile that standard oranges simply don't have. These are grown organically on the tiny, steep "heroic" terraces of the Amalfi Coast, where everything must be tended by hand because machinery cannot reach the trees. |
