This heavily sherried or wine-influenced single malt balances bold, rich flavors with Ben Nevis’s signature robust and oily distillery character. You can expect a complex profile featuring stewed dark fruits, raisins, and ripe berries, layered with sweet notes of brown sugar, honey, and dark chocolate. This initial sweetness is countered by a punchy cask-strength heat that transitions into a warming finish filled with oak spice, leather, and a hint of waxy citrus.

Ingelred was started by three friends who based their philosophy on the legendary 1,000-year-old Ingelred Viking swords. Just as those swords combined high-carbon Indian steel with Nordic blacksmithing, the company combines heavy, traditional Scottish distillates with avant-garde wine-cask aging (like full maturations in Sicilian Marsala or Californian Red Wine instead of standard bourbon or sherry).
