	Who Kilkerran 12 Year Old Single Malt is produced by Glengyle Distillery, an independent, family-owned distillery. Glengyle was originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell. After closing in 1925, it was revived in 2004 by Hedley Wright, the great-great-nephew of the founder.

	What The Kilkerran 12 Year Old is celebrated for its industrial and complex profile. It balances sweet, savory, and coastal elements with a very specific texture. Its most defining trait is a dense, oily and almost chewy mouthfeel, often described as a "Campbeltown funk"—a mix of industrial notes like engine oil, soot, or gas station fumes combined with farmy, organic undertones. With the aroma, you’ll typically find toasted marshmallows and vanilla sweetness up front, backed by maritime salt, lemon zest, and a subtle "green" or floral edge like honeydew melon or parma violets. On the palate it often starts with a bright, tart citrus—think lemon cheesecake or orange peel. This gives way to richer flavors like butterscotch, honeycomb, and digestive biscuits, with a savory, salty "sea breeze" note that lingers throughout. It is lightly peated (around 15 ppm), so the peat shows up as gentle campfire embers, ashy undertones, or a meaty smoke that complements the other flavors. The finish is long and smooth, and leaves a lingering warmth of black pepper, dry oak, and a persistent buttery sweetness.
	Why Almost every part of the process is done on-site or nearby using traditional methods, including floor malting the barley. It is slow whisky in an era of mass production.
