Why In 1903, King Edward VII bought a brand-new, open-air Daimler "horseless carriage." He loved driving it fast down country roads, but the freezing British weather frequently left him shivering. His royal physician, deeply worried the King would catch pneumonia, went to Berry Bros. & Rudd to commission a custom medicinal tonic to instantly warm the King's blood during his morning drives. It is one of the only liqueurs on the market created entirely as a luxury royal health remedy. |
