Icon 1 Who
The King's Ginger is owned, formulated, and produced by Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant. Founded in 1698 in London's St. James's district, the historic family-run company owns the recipe and manages the brand.
Icon 2 Where
The exact location where the liquid is distilled and bottled is kept as an undisclosed trade secret. However, the brand confirms it is produced in England and managed out of London.
Icon 3 What
The King's Ginger tastes like a richly sweet, fiery, and deeply warming ginger syrup balanced by a bright splash of tart lemon. Because it was originally designed to warm up a king in cold weather, it leans heavily into a comforting, fiery spice. The smell is immediate and pungent, reminding you of sweet, candied ginger or fresh-chopped ginger root.
Icon 4 Why
In 1903, King Edward VII bought a brand-new, open-air Daimler "horseless carriage." He loved driving it fast down country roads, but the freezing British weather frequently left him shivering. His royal physician, deeply worried the King would catch pneumonia, went to Berry Bros. & Rudd to commission a custom medicinal tonic to instantly warm the King's blood during his morning drives. It is one of the only liqueurs on the market created entirely as a luxury royal health remedy.
