Vršacko Vinogorje Muskatna Lozova Rakija is highly aromatic, pure, and intensely floral, completely avoiding the heavy, rustic bite associated with lower-grade pomace brandies. On the nose, it greets you with an elegant perfume of fresh white grapes, subtle orange blossom, and wild elderflower. The palate offers a velvety, smooth texture featuring a delicate, grape-must sweetness and light dried-fruit undertones. The Vršac region where this is made is a unique geological anomaly. It is an isolated mountain range sticking out of a massive, flat plain that used to be the ancient Pannonian Sea. The Romans noticed the incredible soil here 2,000 years ago, and by the 19th century, this single region boasted the largest continuous vineyard in all of Europe. Drinking this is a direct tie to that massive, ancient agricultural heritage.
