Who Mal Bien Zacate Limón is produced by the Morales family. The original recipe was developed by the late maestro mezcalero Don Lucio Morales López. He originally created the spirit as a personal gift for his wife, Agustina, distilling it with lemongrass for her enjoyment. ollowing Lucio's passing in 2021, the tradition is carried on by his son, Oscar Morales García, and his cousins, who represent the fourth generation of mezcaleros in their family. |

What Mal Bien Zacate Limón is an intensely aromatic abocado (infused) mezcal that is widely described as a savory, dry alternative to limoncello. Because it is distilled and then macerated with fresh lemongrass, it features a dominant, "super strong" herbal citrus profile that leads over traditional mezcal notes. While often compared to Limoncello, it lacks the cloying sweetness and high viscosity. Instead, it provides a bright, refreshing bouquet of fruit that is much more "invigorating". |
