What Mẩy (Mây) Vietnamese Amaro Bitters is a unique, award-winning Vietnamese herbal liqueur produced by Sông Cái Distillery in partnership with the Red Dao indigenous community. It's a "New World" amaro that breaks away from traditional European styles. It is a dry, bitter, and complex amaro with an emphasis on savory, earthy flavors rather than heavy sweetness or menthol. The flavor profile is dominated by lapsang tea (smokiness), sarsaparilla (think root beer notes), cacao, and robust black tea. It has a distinct savory, almost umami, quality. It uses a base spirit distilled from rice and molasses, infused with 15 botanicals, including fig, poppy, horehound, sarsaparilla, and angelica root. Mẩy (Mây) Vietnamese Amaro Bitters are naturally sweetened using wild honey from native black dwarf honeybees, contributing a complex, non-sugary finish. |
