Who Mi Gusto Es Mezcal Puro Capón comes from the García López family and their company Mezcalería Mi Gusto Es S.A. de C.V. Founded in 1984 by Martin García Sernas and Simona López Hernández, it started as a labor of love—a newly married couple sharing traditional mezcal from their village with Oaxaca City. They opened their permanent family factory (palenque) in 1998 and have been crafting exceptional mezcal ever since. |

What Mi Gusto Es Mezcal Puro Capón delivers a rich, concentrated flavor that sets it apart. By cutting the agave's quiote (flowering stalk) to trap natural sugars, the mezcalero creates a noticeably more intense and savory profile than standard Espadíns. It opens with cooked agave sweetness balanced by black pepper, subtle citrus zest, and earthy minerals. At 49.15% ABV, it's bold yet smooth with a robust, viscous mouthfeel. You'll find layers of caramelized sugar and dark chocolate contrasted by roasted peppers and a hint of briny saltiness. The finish is long and dry, with warm baking spices, ancho chile, and clean wood smoke that lingers beautifully. |

Why What makes a Puro Capón special is timing and intention. The mezcalero watches the field carefully, waiting for the exact moment the agave tries to reproduce. By severing the quiote (flowering stalk), they prevent the plant from creating seeds. This forces the agave to spend its final year building up starches instead of reproducing, resulting in a drastically heavier, oilier, and more concentrated spirit. |
