What Emerald Giant is a botanical rye, meaning it leans more into fresh herbs and bright citrus than the heavy, leathery char found in some Kentucky ryes. Because it ages in the cool, foggy Sonoma coast climate, it stays vibrant and crisp. It’s very fragrant and verdant. You’ll smell orange zest, fresh mint, and eucalyptus, mixed with a warm hint of butterscotch and honey. It has a lovely pop to it. You’ll taste spicy cinnamon, black pepper, and clove, but it’s balanced by a sweet, creamy layer of toasted vanilla and salted caramel. It’s medium-bodied and quite smooth for a 90-proof rye. It doesn't have a harsh burn, which makes it very approachable. It ends clean with a lingering note of dark chocolate and herbal tea, leaving your palate feeling refreshed rather than weighed down by oak. |

Why For every single bottle of Redwood Empire sold, the distillery plants a tree through it’s partnership with Trees for the Future. To date, they have funded the planting of over 1.8 million trees globally, helping to restore ecosystems and support farming communities. The whiskey is named after the Emerald Giant, which stands over 360 feet tall in Redwood National Park. It is recognized as the fastest-growing Redwood in the world, putting on over 1,500 pounds of mass each year. Every whiskey in their lineup is named after a specific, iconic tree in the Redwood Empire forest. |
