Who Rucolino Amaro is produced by Ischia Sapori, a family-run company located on the island of Ischia, just off the coast of Naples in the Campania region of Italy. The company, run by the Savastano family, is the island's first and only producer to commercially bottle the unique flavors of the region. They use a centuries-old recipe that relies heavily on wild arugula (rucola selvatica), which grows natively on Ischia and the nearby Pontine archipelago. The leaves, along with a secret blend of citrus peels, herbs, and roots, are infused in alcohol for 40 days to create the distinctive amaro. |

What Rucolino Amaro is a balanced, bittersweet Italian liqueur with a prominent flavor of arugula, complemented by notes of citrus, dark chocolate, and cedar. It's known for its unique herbal and slightly peppery taste derived from the wild arugula (rucola) native to the island of Ischia. The nose offers a combination of citrus peel (orange, lemon), green herbal notes from the fresh arugula, and warm hints of cedar and subtle caramel. It has a lively texture and a complex palate that expertly balances sweet, bitter, and spiced elements. Flavors include the distinct peppery edge of the arugula, cola-like sweetness, roots, espresso, and bitter chocolate. The finish is medium-length, clean, and pleasantly bitter, which helps to cleanse the palate. It is not overly syrupy or sharp. |

Why Rucolino Amaro’s notes of espresso and chocolate make it a natural pairing for coffee and its unique profile makes it a compelling ingredient in various cocktails, such as a Rucolino Spritz or as a substitute for other amari in a more complex mixed drink. |
